Ethiopia, Egypt, Sudan Agree to an AU Led Process to Solve Outstanding Issues

Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan agreed to an African Union (AU) process aimed at resolving outstanding issues with the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

Ethiopia welcomes the call made by the current AU chairman, President Cyril Ramaphosa of the Office of the AU to consider outstanding issues of the tripartite negotiations on GERD in the spirit of putting African solution to African problems.

Ethiopia has been calling the need for regional mechanisms to advance the negotiation escape.

Ethiopia is willing to work with the office of the AU to find a solution to the outstanding issues in the tripartite negotiations within the framework of cinematography.

In the spirit of consensus, all parties have agreed to reach an agreement within two weeks.

reiterates that Ethiopia accepted while observing the principles of equitable and reasonable utilization and not to cause significant damage, will have to fill the dam in July.

In this spirit, but also it urges all parties to respect the Declaration of Principles (DOP) signed in 2015.
